Auggie Hockey skates for another MIAC crown

Joe Rydel, Sports Editor

The Augsburg Men’s Hockey team finds themselves in the MIAC playoffs yet again at the end of the winter. This is familiar territory for the Auggies as they have claimed the playoff crown in the last two seasons. This year, the Auggies wrapped up the season with a record of 16 wins and nine losses. This record was good for a third seed in the upcoming MIAC tournament.  Standing in their way is a tough field of teams including the University of St. Thomas, St. John’s University and Gustavus Adolphus College.
The Auggies will open the tournament on the road at St. John’s University. The puck is scheduled to drop this Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. The Auggies and the Johnnies split their regular season series with the Auggies claiming a 7-4 victory followed by the Johnnies claiming victory by a score of 2-1.
