Augsburg Mens Basketball looks to have taken advantage of a golden opportunity with the recent acquisition of rookie Buddy “Air-Bud” Framm just before the 24-25 season. Buddy has been making waves on and off the court since his debut in the sport, averaging 60.2 points, 18.7 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game (it was an accident). He is obviously beloved by the dedicated Auggie fan base, but he’s even more popular outside of his athletic affiliations.
This midrange scorer has made a legacy at Augsburg for his powerful work with the CWC to aid in the mental health of students on campus. He has taken the charge and become the new face of Auggie Doggie Days, as well as officially changing it to Auggie Doggie Always by changing the event to be happening all the time, everywhere on campus. When asked about his motives for getting involved with the CWC and expanding the reach of Auggie Doggie Always, Buddy said he “grrr woof bark ruff ruff grrr woof barkbark arf barkbark grrr-ruff bark grrr arf, woof bark barkbark barkbark barkbark ruff ruff ARF ARF?” in a quote to the Echo. Thanks to our Dog Translation Expert, we were able to discern that he was saying that he “wanted to make a change and help out all my non-furry friends on campus, and what could possibly be better than MORE DOGS?”
Despite only being a first-year here, Buddy has quickly risen the ranks of the team, being named team captain and MVP at the end of the season. He has big plans, according to his interview with the Echo. As translated by our expert, Buddy said, “I think it’s important for us as a team to lock in, and make sure that we’re supporting each other, or else our season will just be RUFF, haha get it?” Haha, yes I do, Buddy.

Outside of his work on the team and dedication to mental health awareness, Buddy has made his presence known in many corners of the sports world. He played on his high school basketball, football, soccer, baseball and volleyball teams, and was honored as MVP of all of them, as well as becoming the father to five adorable puppies!
Local basketball enthusiast, Mazzy Breaker, had much to say on the acquisition of Buddy in an interview with the Echo. “He’s my hero. I am always one to root for the underdog, and Buddy ‘Air-Bud’ Framm makes me proud to be an American.” When asked to elaborate, she said “this guy is the American Dream in action! He’s done it all, one of the greatest of our time, truly.” She spoke about her past as a basketball hater, but after discovering game tapes of Buddy’s playing, she was immediately a fan. “He’s the best thing to ever happen to the Auggies. We needed someone who has that DAWG in them, and Buddy fits the bill. I am ecstatic to see what’s next for the best boy in the world.” I think we can all agree that the Auggies have a budding future in front of them, and we can’t wait to see where they take it.
