SMART answers YOUR questions!

Augsburg’s Sexual Misconduct Awareness Raising Team (SMART) wants to answer your questions about consent! They will be answering the questions bi-monthly in The Echo. We received a question about what our favorite parts about being SMART members
are, so below are a few board and general members’ thoughts.

Eve Taft (PR Officer and Secretary): “I love being able to feel like I’m making a real difference on campus. I’m really proud of the discussion nights we’ve held where we talk about difficult but vital topics like consent and alcohol.”

Laura Frederiksen (general member and future Secretary): “I really enjoy the great discussions that we have and the support that the group offers. The meetings are fun with food and coloring, which foster a good environment for dealing with the heavier stuff. I love being able to be a part of a group that deals with consent in a creative and productive way. I also like writing articles for The Echo and being able to spread awareness through my writing.”

On March 20, we held elections for the 2018-2019 board, and the results are as follows:

Lydia Stephens will continue serving as president.
Josette Schoenecker was elected Events and Community Director. Laura Fredericksen was elected Secretary.  Emie Brown was elected PR Officer, and Sam Luhning was elected Treasurer.
Congratulations to the new board!
