Questions (FAQs)
How can I get involved with The Echo?
The Echo is Augsburg’s official and only student-produced newspaper and has been around since 1898. The best way to get involved with The Echo is to attend one of our general meetings, which occur every Thursday during chapel time (11:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.). At these meetings, interested students can get first pick on article writing opportunities, pitch ideas for new ones and meet our staff. A cool thing to note is that you don’t have to be an expert writer or artist to contribute to the paper– our editors are here to support students from all different levels of writing!
We pay our staff writers $25 per published article, contributors $15 per published article.
Where are The Echo’s general meetings?
Meetings for The Echo are held in our office! We are located on the lower level of Christensen Center in the Auggie’s Nest in suite 001G.
How do contributors get paid?
Our staff, staff writers and contributors are paid on a bi-weekly system. To ensure you’re included in this system please email echo@augsburg.edu or one of our editors.
How does one become a staff writer?
After four published articles, contributors are offered the position of staff writer. Staff writer responsibilities entail writing at least one article consistently for The Echo every issue (with reasonable exception for life happenings and emergencies).
When does The Echo release new issues?
Our newspaper issues release digitally and on print every Monday by noon. Pick up a copy anywhere on campus or check our website weekly for updates!
