Oh No, the LGBTQ+ Community is Accepting of Everyone? I’m Shocked!

Josh Seiter, who was on Season 11 of the “Bachelorette” and got eliminated in week one, spent the last five months pretending to be a trans woman. You read that correctly. This was revealed by him while on the podcast “Prime Time With Alex Stein,” where he stated “I’ve been conducting a social experiment online to expose how gullible and how delusional the left is.” First of all, not everything is a “social experiment” and even if this was, what would be the hypothesis? The liberal left accepts people regardless of their starting point or who they were before?

“The whole idea of postmodern gender ideology is ridiculous and absurd and I tried to be the most extreme version of it and take it to its logical end to show how ridiculous it is that people can actually believe that biological men are magically transformed into women because they are having a gender crisis,” is what Josh claimed he was trying to prove on the podcast. Just so we are on the same page, in his announcements on Instagram he claimed to have known that he was trans for three decades and had been hiding it. At no point did he say this was a sudden crisis, but what is really important is: why would it matter if his claim was true?

Men already speak over women in conversations about women’s needs. They take women’s resources, “she deserves the purse” being a great example. On top of that, trans women don’t take away resources for women, there is not a shortage of oppression. Josh himself never claimed to know the experience of a cis woman. The actions of a cis person cannot reflect on the trans community.

Nothing about this “social experiment” reflects on the left, trans people or society at large. The whole time there were people in Josh’s comments saying it was fake. He is at best a micro-celebrity that people will forget about in less than a month, which is why this happened.

Holding “social experiments” gets people online attention. Controversial YouTuber Nikocado Avocado claimed that getting skinny was a test for the internet and that test got him more attention than losing the weight did. This also isn’t the first time that Josh Seiter has pulled a publicity stunt. In Aug. 2023 he made a post announcing his death. This post stayed for 24-hours with no comment from Josh on any social media. The next day he claimed to have been hacked. Former Drag Race Star Monica Beverly claimed that Josh faked it as he had a history of pulling crazy stunts. She also pointed out that he didn’t contact anyone to have them release a statement that he was alive and had been hacked.

Whether or not the death post was a stunt, this newest “faking being trans” thing  definitely is, and it’s working to continue the right’s narrative. The real implication that Josh Seiter’s experiment had was showing he is a privileged white guy who can use marginalized communities to further bolster his own online standing. This is further seen in the posts he made before the trans hoax, which consisted of polls with such subjects as “Can a guy be bi if he’s only been with girls?”

At the end of the day, Josh Seiter is an aging white guy who is clinging to the fame that he couldn’t even manage to get on his one week of the “Bachelorette.” Ignore the stunt, block him and do something positive because so many people refuse to.
