Cross Country teams prep for home stretch

BY KRISTIAN EVANS, SPORTS EDITOR

The Augsburg Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams have competed in three of their seven meets for the year. The upcoming tournament in La Crosse, Wis., is the last race before the MIAC championships hosted at St. Olaf, so the Auggies look for a strong showing as a warm up.

The Auggie Men are led by junior Captain Ryan Moore who completed the St. Olaf Invite 8000-meter race with a time of 29:10.33 followed by junior Ben Erickson’s 30:05.93 time. The men’s team also welcomed three first years to their roster. The trio of William McLeer, Gregory Miller and Isaac Tade have helped the Auggies throughout the season. Tade led the Auggies in his third collegiate race at the Running of the Cows tournament at Carleton with a time of 28:56.7 over 8000 meters.

The Women’s team is led by senior Blair Stewig who was the top finisher for the team at St. Olaf with 25:46.44, and she was followed by junior Caitlin Olson. They were followed by Zoe Huebner and Kassandra Diaz.

The next two meets for the Auggies after La Crosse are the championship competitions. The MIAC Championships are followed by the NCAA Central Regional hosted at Carleton College.
