The Augsburg University wrestling team got back on track this week after a 3-1 showing at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, Candlewood Suites Duals.

The Auggies suffered their only loss of the season thus far at the hands of Loras College in the last round of the tournament. The Auggies went on to host Minnesota State University on Thursday in which they boasted an impressive 35-9 victory over the Division II foe.

Sam Bennyhoff brought his record to an unblemished 10-0 with a pin at 133 pounds, and Bryce Zdanovec pinned his opponent at 157 pounds. Junior 149-pounder Alex Wilson picked up a tech fall and sparked the Auggies to win the final five matches of the dual.

Following the dual victory, the Auggies headed north to compete at the St. Cloud State Holiday Inn/ Husky Open on Saturday. Recording top three finishes on the day were Alex Wilson, Tanner Vassar, Solomon Nielsen, Jackson Graham, and Sebastian Larson.

Following a short break for the holidays, the Auggie wrestlers will get back in action in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they will compete at the Citrus Open. The tournament has become a yearly destination for the team, and it will take place on Dec. 29 and 30.
