It has been brought to my attention that one of the entries in my “Augsburg Cryptids” features article was offensive, namely, the section about Nabo. While writing the article, which was a spoof of a buzzfeed type article, I was thinking about fantasy settings like Harry Potter. However, I failed to take into account that some of the language I used in the article could be perceived as derogatory to immigrants. This was an unintentional oversight, and I am sincerely sorry for it. I take full responsibility for the problem and recognize that impact is more important than intent. Going forward, I’ll do my best to consider the implications of any language I use and avoid such mistakes.
