Cross country competes in regionals

The Augsburg cross country teams competed at the NCAA D-III regional meet with the official standings placing the men’s team 27th. Unfortunately for the women’s team, only four people were able to compete at the meet, and the official website does not list any team scores.
Of the 10 total members of the team present, three were first years: Grace Hartman, Mohamed Salad and Kevin Sethre. Hartman finished the six-kilometer race in 30:23.4, averaging 8:08.6 minutes per mile. Salad completed the eight-kilometer race in 27:22.0, which split into an astonishing 5:30.5 average mile time. Salad also placed the highest amongst the male Augsburg runners, finishing 125 place out of 210. Sethre finished the race just behind Salad with a time of 29:34.3 with an average mile of 5:57.0.
The listed sophomores for the Auggies were Jasmine Gonzalez, Allison Mangan, Ann Scheely, William McLeer and Greg Miller. Gonzalez and Mangan were fairly close to one another, finishing the 6K with times of 36:21.3 and 30:56.1, respectively. Scheely did the best of the female Auggies, running a time of 24:36.9 and placing 113 out of 206. McLeer finished the 8K in a time of 30:53.2 while fellow sophomore Miller ran a 29:12.0.
The lone junior was Jackson Gerber, who ran a time of 30:26.4. Rounding out the team was the only senior, Ryan Moore. Moore finished what was the final cross country race of his Augsburg career with a time of 28:43.2.
While it is too early to begin predicting how next year’s team will look, in the next few months the indoor track season will begin, offering more accessible opportunities to speculate and support Auggie’s distance runners.
