Women’s Golf Has Solid Showing At MIAC Championships

The Auggie volleyball team entered Homecoming week ranked 14th in the nation and defended their spot as they took three straight sets against both Carleton (25-12, 25-11, 25-15) and Macalester (25-11), 25-18, 25-16) to bring their overall record to 13-2 while owning a perfect 3-0 MIAC record.


The Auggies took on Carleton for their homecoming game and came out on the attack. Augsburg finished the match with a .368 attacking percentage, their highest in the season. Kayla Gjerde led the Auggies with 11 kills on the night while Corrina Evans had 7 blocks. Lexie Lang set a career best with 24 assists and Jaelin Rios led the team with 8 digs.


The team then traveled across the river to take on Macalester, where they cruised through 3 sets to secure the victory. The team came out blazing, as they had an incredible hitting percentage of .357 in the first set and never looked back. Gjerde again led the Auggies with 13 kills while Evans and Jade Boysen led the Auggies in blocks with five and six respectively. Lang and Izzy Barr helped out the Auggies with 14 and 15 assists respectively, and Jaelin Rios came up with 17 digs in the match.


As a team, Augsburgis currently 2nd in the MIAC for hitting percentage with .234 on the season. Evans is putting up another great season, as she is second in blocks per set with 1.2, fourth in hitting percentage with .336 and ninth in points per set with 3.5. Barr is leading the whole MIAC in service aces per set with a .65, and Gjerde is tenth in Kills per set with 2.82.

After their solid start in the MIAC, the Auggies are now up to 11th in the nation, their highest ranking in program history. Look for the Auggies to keep rising in the rankings this season.
