The men’s and women’s cross country teams braved the cold and windy conditions at Carleton College last Saturday to compete at the MIAC Championships, with the men’s team finishing in 10th and the women’s team finishing in 12th.

The first event of the day was the men’s 8k, and it was first year Sakariya Hussien who first crossed the finish line for the Auggies. His time of 26:50.7 was a personal best and put him at 48th (39th team place) for the meet. Behind Hussien was fellow first year Michael Abeyta, who also crossed in a personal best time of 28:04.7 which was good for 120th (66th team). First year Alex Stonick was the third runner, clocking a 28:22.8 and finishing 137th (68th team). Rounding out the scoring five for Augsburg were Greg Miller coming in at 29:53.1 and Kevin Sethre who crossed at 30:04.9.

The women’s 6k followed, and it was another first year who led the Auggie women. Zoe Barany finished in 61st (53rd team) and clocked a solid 24:28.6 time. Senior Ann Sheely was the second runner for the Auggies and she came in at 25:08.3, which was a good time for 96th (68th team). The third runner on the day was first year Chloe Kintop, who used her personal best time of 26:55.9 to finish 155th (77th team). Grace Hartman crossed at 28:35.6 and Camryn Masse finished in a personal best time of 29:16.3 to round out the scoring five for the women.

Both teams will finish their seasons at the NCAA DIII Central Regional Championship on Nov. 23 at Wartburg College.
