The Augsburg Men’s and Women’s cross country team’s wrapped up their season this past Saturday at the NCAA DIII Central Regional in Wartburg. The men’s team finished in 24th and the women’s team finished in 29th.

The young men’s team was again led by first year runners. After missing the MIAC championships due to illness, Cody Reider regained his spot as the top runner finishing 124th in 28:18.17. Close behind Reider was Alex Stonick who finished in 28:26.4. Fellow first years Sakariya Hussien and Michael Abeyta were the three and four runners, and junior Greg Miller rounded out the scoring five for the men’s contingent.

The women’s team was led by their dynamic duo of Zoe Barany and Ann Sheely. Barany finished in a 25:28.6 clocking which placed her in 103rd, while Sheely followed closely with a time of 25:43.9 and 114th overall finish. Following the top two runners were Camryn Masse and Jasmine Gonzalez, who finished in 30:12.6 and 33:01.3 respectively. Rounding out the top five for the women was Ingri Ramirez Martin in 35:17.6.

With such a young group of runners, their is plenty of room for growth. Getting used to the demand of college running is no small feat, and having a season under their belts will help tremendously for the young Auggies. After a short break to refresh their legs, the distance crew will join the sprinters, jumpers and throwers for the 2020 track season.
