It’s not too Late to Study Abroad next School Year!
Matt Lubega, Contributor
In the spring of 2018, I had the life-changing opportunity to study abroad in Tokyo, Japan. It felt like a dream come true, as this was my first time traveling outside the U.S, and every day was filled with new adventures. Not only did I get to learn about Japanese culture, but I was also able to learn more about the world and myself. During my time in Japan, I was able to use my language skills every day by dining at restaurants, interacting with locals, and shopping in Tokyo. I also got the chance to shadow an advertising account executive at an international T.V station and traveled to a tropical island during spring break with my new international friends!
While your experience might be different from mine, you will definitely have memorable moments abroad, and grow skills that will be useful for your whole life.
If you’ve ever thought about studying abroad, now is a great time! Our CGEE programs Communication & Media Studies: Migration & Social Change in Mexico and Nation Building & Decolonizing The Mind In Africa In Southern Africa still have spaces available for fall 2020.
You’ll be able to stay on track to graduate by taking 16+ credits through either program. For the Mexico program, you’ll be able to take Communication Studies major/minor courses and electives to fulfill the LAF requirements to graduate.
Both programs offer real-world experiences through internships with an internship seminar designed to facilitate students’ knowledge of the global workforce. All courses for these programs are offered in English with the opportunity to take Spanish-language courses on the Mexico program. For the Southern Africa program, you’ll also be able to study in two countries in one semester!
Thanks to a generous donor, Augsburg is now providing FREE AIRFARE for Augsburg students going on both of these programs in the Fall of 2020 and Spring 2021 (Southern Africa only). You can use your financial aid package for semester long programs on-campus. You will also receive an automatic $1500 CGEE Travel Grant that will be added to your financial aid, just for being an Auggie!
Applications for both of these programs are due Wednesday, April 1.
