Artist Spotlight: Marcia Rowe

My work as a graphic designer and artist focuses on Black women’s experience, feminism and other social topics. Each piece is an extension of my personal perspective, but they also amplify other voices. As a designer, it is my task to visually represent an idea. As a sociologist, it is my job to analyze. By combining these, I aim to make clear relationships that the viewer can understand.
Currently, I am applying to the URGO summer research program to explore the functions of art in social movements and, on a larger scale, its contribution to social change. I am also starting an art Instagram page @_artbymarcia.
