The Augsburg golf teams were both in action over the weekend with the Womens team competing at the St. Catherine Invitational at Oak Glen Golf Course in Stillwater and the Mens team competing at the Twin Cities Classic at The Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Elk River Country Club in Elk River, and Wayzata Country Club in Wayzata.
The Womens team finished tied for 12th place with University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. They were led by senior Emma Kraft, who continued her record-breaking season by finishing in a tie for 16th by shooting a 160 over the two rounds of the competition. According to the Augsburg Athletics website, she “now holds three of the top-six 36-hole efforts in program history, including a school-record 154 set at the Wisconsin Eau-Claire Georgianni Blugold Invitational on Sept. 11-12.” Other Auggies at the meet included Maren Aikens, who finished with a score of 168, Elizabeth Fagerlind, who shot 174, Olivia Boe, who shot 188, and Daisy Vinkemeier, who shot 214.
The weekend before, the Womens team competed in the Gustavus Adolphus College Division III Classic at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings. Kraft had another strong performance and finished with a 159, enough for the second-best 36-hole score in program history, and Fagerlind also did well and finished with a score of 161. Other good performances from Aikens, Avery Sawchuk, Boe, and Vinkemeier, helped the Auggies finish in 13th place.
The Mens A and B teams finished 17th and 20th, respectively, at their meet. Stellan Orvick led the way for the Auggies and finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 222 over the three-round competition. He was followed by Fritz Belisle, who finished with a score of 244, Zach Stewart, who shot 248, Jack Robbel, who shot 255, and Sawyer Bailey, who shot 262.
The weekend before, the Mens team was at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Altoona, Wisconsin. Orvick led the way once again with a score of 154, and strong efforts from Robbel, who shot 157, Belisle, who shot 162, Stewart, who shot 166, and Alec Chamberlain, who shot 177, helped the Auggies to an impressive fourth-place finish.
Both teams will finish their season at the MIAC Championships, which will take place from October 2-4 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
