Some Kind of Romance

I crave that kind of romance where we’ve known each other for years, learned the habits and behaviors and everything mundane, sewn you into my life, mine in yours, unplanned yet predictable, everything burning 

so slowly and so quietly that we did 

not even notice until the yearning 

had already settled in, where we hid 

behind the nervous laughters, not knowing how to act properly, fumbled over 

easy words, and then finally slowing 

down, and just letting it all spillover 

where the words sound different but all so true, “I am entirely in love with you.”
