Re: Nov. 5, I Hear Canada’s Great This Time of Year

Former Pres. Donald Trump has been elected again. Not only is this detrimental to America, but it also shows who we are as a country. We are still a very racist, sexist and overall xenophobic country. The fact that we have never been able to elect a female-identifying president and we’ve only had one non-white president throughout our history tells the world a lot about us. It also shows us how little we’ve progressed.
This is very bad news not just for this country, but for the world. Trump doesn’t give a shit about climate change or going carbon neutral, which we can see in a statement he made on the campaign trail this past year: “drill baby drill,” referring to oil drilling. Trump also is dangerously pro-Israel. He is more than happy to expel Palestinians from their ancestral land for the benefit of the far-right, white supremacist Zionists who believe in the prophecy of the end times. This was evident when he had the U.S. Embassy moved from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem during his previous term in office.
This doesn’t even start to get into the issues facing America today. Whether Trump has an idea of how economics work, or simply doesn’t care, his policies will have horrible effects on America’s working class. Not only that but when it comes to women’s rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, Indigenous rights and the rights of other people of color, Trump has promised many times to erase the rights of these oppressed groups. Another important piece: Trump hates abortion, which is a critical and life-saving piece of reproductive healthcare. He is ALSO aiming to get rid of life-saving healthcare needed in the Trans community.
When he gets into office, he will do everything he can to implement as much of Project 2025 as possible. When he does this, he will have most of Congress at his back. During this election year, Republicans took control of the Senate. The House is a bit more fairly distributed, but ultimately since the Senate is in conservative control, the incoming Trump administration will not have a lot in their way.
To put this simply, we are all f—ed. It doesn’t matter what race or what gender we identify with, we ultimately live on the same planet and there is no back-up planet. A lot of people are saying we just f—ed ourselves over with this election, but the reality is we’ve been f—ed for the last several decades.

The Democrats are pretty responsible for this loss as they have shifted farther to the right which has alienated their voter bases. They have become strict about pro-Palestine actions and immigration. It is also our fault for not electing a capable person to the White House who does have a good idea of what she’s doing. Instead, we appointed a f—ing idiot who has no idea what the hell is going on and doesn’t care.
Going forward, we can and should work together to make humanity’s final years better than how they’ve been. We can still fight for equality for all. That would be very depressing if we couldn’t at least have that achieved by the time humanity falls.
