not in my life have i lived in such cold
this land is frosty in more than the clime
some fool has sworn to bring back days of old
and sack us of our rights in record time.
these past few years have shown us grim new fears
the coasts in flames, the hurricanes lay waste
our laws are shifting to stamp out the queers
to migrants, foul beasts dressed as men give chase.
some say our empire must control the world
but how can we think we deserve that chance?
our country’s wrought destruction and outrage
our history a violent expanse.
this land is yours as much as it is mine
but Brotherhood must be all that we shrine.
