Since When Was Elon Musk Elected President? Oh Yeah, He Wasn’t!

Klaus Solko, staff writer

As we all know, Pres. Donald Trump brought his Nazi lap dog to office with him, but as this year goes on it gets harder to tell who is walking whom. On Feb. 11, Trump signed an executive order giving DOGE even more control in government (not how executive orders work by the way), leading to the first interview with Elon Musk since he became president — sorry, I mean head of the DOGE.

A reporter asked Elon Musk for his comments about Democrats that claim he’s “orchestrating a hostile takeover of the government,” according to a video from CBS News. His response was a beautiful dance around the question where he said “We have the majority vote of the public for President Trump… the people voted for major government reform… that’s what people are going to get.”

I would like to point out that even in his defense he admits that the people voted for Trump. Musk is not an elected official in any way. He was not voted for by the people and he was not approved to be in the presidential cabinet because his position doesn’t exist. This is not democracy! In my elementary school we would have days where a kid could win the prize of being principal for the day, which meant that kid got to hang out in the office all day and make a school announcement. Now, instead, imagine that kid got to change school policy, fire people, control the school board, look at all the information of fellow students and it was for at least the next four years. That is the equivalent to what Musk gets to do with the United States government.

When asked, in a video from CBS News, about how his position has checks and balances and ensures transparency, this was Elon Musk’s response: “We post all our actions to the DOGE handle on X and to the DOGE website,” and, “There are not individual judgement decisions happening; these are simply having sensible checks and balances in the system itself.” A system that is controlled by him. He goes on to talk about how if he was doing anything shady that people would be able to see it and they would not be shy about calling it out.

Okay, so let’s call it out. He has made BILLIONS of dollars and plenty of contacts in the Pentagon this year. Weird that so much money is going to the man “in charge” of cutting excess government spending. Weird that all of that money and contacts were made after Trump got into office. I think that a lack of shady activity is impossible if the person doing the things is also the person approving the things, publishing the information and saying “yep, all legit.” That is why we have checks and balances in every place in society, not just the government. That is why reporters exist.

Well, there is one thing people can be confident about in his role. It is proof that the president does not care about our democracy or elections. And, it is pretty easy to see how power is really transferred in America.
