Artist Spotlight: Anthonella Laurens

Photo of Anthonella Laurens

Anthonella Laurens is a Graphic Design and Studio Artist from Venezuela, currently living in Minnesota. Her work explores identity, dreams, immigration and feelings through exhibition design, illustration and mixed media. This installation named “Sleepless Paranoia” uses mixed media to explore sleep deprivation through personal experience and the feeling of discomfort in an abstract way. This piece is meant to be dynamic by having three main factors that the audience can explore like the canvas, veil and fish eye. This helps the audience get through a spine-chilling depiction of the body in a nightmarish-ethereal filter. She depicts the uncomfortable and confusing journey of the struggle within her body, her mind and the outside.
