In a pair of conference games, the Augsburg men’s and women’s soccer teams took on their respective counterparts from Hamline in a Saturday doubleheader.

In the opening game, the men’s team jumped out to an early lead on a goal by Lionel Vang in minute 19 of the regulation and held on until late in the game. Hamline managed to tie the score with less than three minutes left in the game to force overtime.

Despite outshooting the Pipers 7-1 in extra time, the game ended in a tie that put the team with a 6-5-1 record with a 2-2-1 conference record.

The women’s team reasserted their place as the top team in the MIAC standings with a 2-0 win over the Hamline women. Goals from Nora Edelen and Kealie Espinda Banick, both assisted by Ashley St. Aubin on corner kicks, put the team out in front. A strong play from goalkeeper Emily Chapman kept the Pipers off the board and recorded her second consecutive shutout.

The win keeps the Auggies undefeated in conference play with a MIAC record of 5-0-1, and they sit one point above the second place St. Olaf.
