Softball snowed out

The record-setting blizzard did not stop the Auggie Softball team from playing in our cherished dome over Edor Nelson Field as they looked to upset the number-14 ranked St. Thomas Tommies last Saturday.
The Auggies were held to just one run on four hits in game one against the Tommies as they took the loss by a score of 3-1. Augsburg scored their lone run in the bottom of the second on a bases loaded walk by Carly Dropik. Sam Anderson pitched her 12th complete game in 13 starts as she took the loss.
Game two did not go much better for the Auggies as they committed four errors and were shut out by the Tommies, dropping the contest by a score of 8-0. Morgan Malley took the loss in game two, pitching five innings. Bella Kallas pitched an inning in relief for the Auggies as well.
Unfortunately, the Auggies’ scheduled doubleheader against St. Kate’s was postponed because there was too much snow on the dome, and there were worries that it might collapse. With the dome still up, Augsburg will continue to host as many games as they can to keep the season moving for the MIAC. Look for updates on the Auggie Athletics website and social media accounts.
