Men’s soccer off to NCAA playoffs
Joe Rydel, Sports Editor
The Augsburg men’s soccer team has enjoyed a wave of success this fall. The boys were able to qualify for the NCAA tournament where they will face the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the first round of the tournament.
Coming off of a 2017 campaign that left the team without a playoff bid, the 2018 team has become a force to be reckoned with in MIAC play. The Auggies finished the 2018 season with a record of 12-3-4 overall with a MIAC record of 6-2-2. Augsburg was able to ride this momentum into the playoffs with their only loss coming at the hands of the Carleton Knights in the MIAC championship game. That record, paired with two key victories in the playoffs, was enough to qualify the team for more playoff action.
The NCAA Tournament is scheduled to kickoff for the Auggies on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m. The host site for first round action is the University of St. Thomas.
