The Augsburg swimming and diving season is officially underway as they have competed in two meets, with solid results in both competitions to start the season.

The University of St. Thomas Relays was the first meet the Auggies competed in under new head coach Lindsay Mikkelson. Augsburg’s top finish at the meet was the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mary McSharry, Kathryn Friesz, Julia Bishop and Morgan Mangel. They finished seventh out of 21 teams in the event, recording a time of 1:50.31. The Auggies also finished ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 10th in the 400-yard medley relay.

Augsburg then competed at the Hamline University Relays last weekend, recording six top-five individual performances. Mary McSharry claimed the victory in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:06.29. She also finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley. Diver Cassie Lehman started off her season with two second-place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter competitions. She scored a personal-best 200.75 in the three-meter which was good for third all-time in program history.

The Auggie’s return to the pool on Nov. 13 in a fundraising exhibition meet at St. Thomas.
