A word on journalistic standards

Jenny L. Hanson, Dept. of Communication Studies, Film, and New Media

ECHO writers, editors and contributors are expected to utilize the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics as a guide for ethical and responsible journalism.

The foundational principles of the SPJ Code require journalists take responsibility for their words and reporting as they seek truth and report it, minimize harm, act independently and be accountable and transparent.

Visit spj.org for more information about the Code of Ethics.
