Saddle Up for Augsburg’s New Majors, Partner!

Percy Bartelt, rootin’ and especially tootin’

Since Augsburg University was first established, we’ve added a multitude of new majors to keep up with the ever-advancing world around us! Now, as part of the updates being made to the general education curriculum for next year, Augsburg is also excited to announce three new majors and curriculums: Cowfolk and Ranchin’, Pirates and the Seven Seas and Demonology and Vampirism studies taught by Adjunct Professor Zak Bagans. These new majors will be open to incoming first-years at the start of the new semester.

President Paul Pribbenow stated at multiple meetings and convocations regarding these new majors that they are intended to “bring the best years of history back to share with future generations.” Professors and students alike are already preparing for new changes around campus with these new majors, such as a brand new pool for our Piracy majors, a horse track for our Ranchin’ folks and of course an ancient crypt under Old Main for our Demonology students; though apparently there was already one there, so they just made a second one.

Our new Cowfolk are gonna learn the ropes when it comes to wranglin’ animals and outlaws, ridin’ horses, creatin’ their very own cowboy hat and spurs, as well as the ethics behind being a darn good cowboy! We’re all excited to see the near horse track and barns while watching new rodeo events come to life on campus.

Next, our Pirates are going to learn what it takes to battle the deep dark depths of the ocean, analyzing different waters and wind patterns and how to read the cosmos in order to navigate a tumultuous landscape like the vast ocean. Not only that, but there will also be a concentration path for treasure hunting pirates, learning the value of your loot, where to find them, what traps to look out for and the most important class of all: superstition. Best of luck to our future Auggie pirates and remember not to follow mysterious songs you hear in the distance.

Lastly, with our new Demonology and Vampirism program taught by “Ghost Adventures” star Zak Bagans, students will learn about ghost types and their origins, folklore and mythology, the do’s and don’ts of exorcism, communication with the undead, ghost hunting and hunting methods for different entities. We’re so excited to welcome our new adjunct professor, Prof. Bagans! With his expertise, our new students will have no problem with this dangerous line of work.

With our school growing in size and experience, I’m glad there are more options for future students. These business and art and STEM majors were seriously lacking personality and intrigue, but with these three additions Augsburg is livening up! Keep an eye out for new events on campus with these new majors and keep your options open when it comes to your future, maybe these will be the right fit for you!
