Women’s soccer bounces back from early losses

John Kipper, Staff Writer

After getting shut out in the first two games, the women’s soccer team proceeded to win three of the next four, rounding out their overall record to 3-3 and 1-1 in conference play. The victories came against St. Scholastica, Wisconsin-Eau Claire and most recently, an overtime thriller against Bethel.

The Auggies walloped St. Scholastica and Wisconsin-Eau Claire, winning 3-0 in both games. Against Bethel, junior Ashley St. Aubin scored both goals, the 10th multi-goal game of her career, and her efforts were recognized across the MIAC as she was named Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Up next for the Auggies are a road game against St. Mary’s and a home game against the College of St. Benedict. St. Mary’s is currently 4-2 (0-1 in conference play). While no win is ever easy or guaranteed, the odds of Augsburg losing are, as St. Mary’s failed to win a single confrence game last year. Last year, the Auggies had a 2-2 draw with St. Bens, so this year’s matchup should be an interesting affair.
